At some point in your life, you’ve likely supported and encouraged a friend or cheered on a loved one with one of their accomplishments or goals. But when was the last time you felt personally inspired to focus on and feed a long held dream of your own? We all need meaning and joy in our lives to feel fulfilled but often, for various reason we are unable to prioritize our own dreams or desires.
Blocks to joy ranging from fear of failure, to peer disapproval, to financial restrictions or even a true inability to prioritize putting yourself first on occasion are sure “kill joy” contenders. Further, while dreams should not have an age limit or expiration date, let’s be real… certain dreams might have been more feasible to execute when we were younger in our thirties or forties, but if you’re now at a more seasoned age of sixty or seventy-plus, they could now require some major adjustment or extra considerations.
I know for me personally, I have leaned into many endeavors, several of which were less successful than I would have hoped for. But at a minimum, I came away without the “coulda” “shoulda” “woulda’s” and often times, I still learned many new skills and grew from the experience – equating to a plus!
So where can you find your joy and better yet, have you honestly even allowed yourself to identify it? Are you able to talk about it or share it with others and if not, why might that be?
If you have felt the need to keep your desire privately tucked away in a safe quiet corner of your heart protected from discouragers all too willing to tell you that you can’t possibly do or have what you want, then maybe it’s time to think about refreshing your support circle. Not to mention if you are entirely unaccustomed to prioritizing yourself and your needs, then living authentically to foster a dream could likely take the kind of courage that makes your hands shake and your heart race.
As time waits for no one, I ask you to gently question: Whose life are you living anyway, if not wholeheartedly yours? You deserve to honor yourself by imagining with intention, what IS possible. By putting a little belief in your thoughts, may you not pause another day before taking that first empowering step on your journey by erasing your doubts, welcoming the opportunity to dare to dream and manifesting your joy! ♥ ♥ ♥
