When you choose to attend one of my Sound Baths, I appreciate and acknowledge the importance of your decision. Instead of fulfilling yet another “Call To Action”, your decision to join me for a Sound Bath actually honors a “Call To Inaction”, by mindfully carving out time for yourselves to receive recovery and restoration. I’d like to share with you a recent journal entry of mine about reducing stress that parallels how attending a Sound Bath is a simple choice that allows you the opportunity to slow down and destress your mind to ultimately benefit your health with minfulness.
From the moment we wake, our minds become immediately occupied with processing our to do list, where we have to be, by what time and date. We live in a busy demanding world with multiple responsibilities to meet every single day, regardless of how rested we are or even how we are feeling inside, yet: we are compelled to just push through. In an effort to get everything done faster, we may even find ourselves resorting to tackling things by multitasking….robotically jumping from one task to the next in a preoccupied state. And often, we endure this cycle day in, day out, without even bothering to notice the impact to our minds and wellbeing.
So, why does this matter? Well to begin with, chronic mental preoccupation not only elevates your stress and cortisol levels, but it greatly affects our nervous system and therefore, your health.
So how do we release ourselves from the burdensome feeling that we must do it all now? How can we shift from being in a relentless multitasking state?
From my own personal experience I offer, by taking a few minutes each day to intentionally prioritize our wellbeing first with some grace, gentle acceptance, recognition of all that we do and having gratitude for what we have in our lives that brings us happiness and joy. By giving yourself permission with mindfulness, and grounding yourself, by pairing back your focus onto only what is truly most important to you in the now with your singular attention, and empowering yourself by reaching for: Simplicity.
This may seem impossible to do, but I assure you, if you will consciously take just a few moments each day with intention, to think about purposefully choosing to incorporate the habit of mindfulness and gratitude into your day, over time you will slowly transition into the more peaceful state you are searching for. As with any self-care activity, benefits are more consistently received when practiced regularly until they naturally become habit. However, if you find gaining focus over your thoughts to be a real challenge, the meditative effects of a Sound Bath can provide you a gentle avenue to nurture your mindfulness skills.
